Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

Welcome to Easy Mode Websites. These Terms & Conditions explain the basic rules for working together and using this website.

By using this website, submitting a payment, or purchasing services from Easy Mode Websites, you agree to the terms below.

Agreement to these terms

By submitting any payment to Easy Mode Websites—including a deposit, remaining balance, or payment for custom services—you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions and the Easy Mode Websites Privacy Policy.

Please review both before making a payment. If you don’t agree with them, don’t submit payment or purchase services.

Simple enough.

Services

Easy Mode Websites provides Squarespace web design, copywriting, website customization, and related creative services.

Services currently fall into two general categories:

Easy Mode / Semi-Custom Websites begin with one of my existing starting designs and are customized for your business, brand, content, colors, images, and personality.

Custom Websites are designed specifically for your business from scratch and are quoted based on the needs and scope of the individual project.

Exactly what’s included in your project will be described on the website, during the inquiry process, in your project communications, or in a separate proposal or agreement when applicable.

Easy Mode deposits + payment

Easy Mode projects currently require a $100 non-refundable deposit to officially book your project.

After I receive your completed questionnaire and necessary project information, I’ll create and send your homepage preview.

If you approve the preview, the remaining $500 balance is due before I complete the rest of the website and prepare it for launch.

If you decide you don’t like the homepage preview and don’t want to continue, you can stop the project there. You won’t owe the remaining balance, but the original $100 deposit remains non-refundable because it covers the time and work already completed.

Yes, I’m seriously letting you see what you’re getting before you owe me the other $500.

Custom website payments

Custom website projects begin at the price listed on the website but are individually quoted based on scope.

Payment schedules, deposits, project milestones, deliverables, and other project-specific terms will be provided before work begins.

Any required deposit or initial payment must be received before your project is officially booked and work begins.

Unless otherwise stated in writing, deposits for custom projects are non-refundable once work has begun.

Project timelines

Easy Mode projects are designed to move quickly. Estimated turnaround times are provided on the website and during the booking process.

Custom project timelines depend on scope and will be discussed before the project begins.

Timelines are estimates rather than guarantees because sometimes life happens, technology misbehaves, and occasionally I need something from you before I can keep going.

Delays in providing content, images, feedback, account access, approvals, or other requested information may delay your project timeline.

What I need from you

You’re responsible for providing accurate information and any materials reasonably necessary to complete your project.

Depending on the project, that might include:

  • Business information

  • Photos or other media

  • Logos or existing brand materials

  • Product or service information

  • Account or domain information

  • Feedback and approvals

You do not need to show up with your entire website already planned, written, and spiritually resolved. Figuring out how to turn your information into a website is literally part of my job.

Your content + materials

You are responsible for making sure you have permission to use any photos, logos, graphics, text, fonts, trademarks, or other materials you provide for your website.

By giving me materials to use, you confirm that you either own them or have the appropriate permission or license to use them.

Easy Mode Websites is not responsible for copyright, trademark, licensing, or other legal issues resulting from materials supplied by the client.

Copywriting

Copywriting is included when stated as part of your package.

I’ll use the information you provide to write website copy designed to accurately represent your business and sound like an actual human being.

You are ultimately responsible for reviewing and approving your final website content, including factual claims, pricing, policies, qualifications, professional claims, legal information, and other business-specific details.

I can make it sound good. I cannot magically know that you changed your Tuesday hours three weeks ago.

Revisions

Your package may include a specific number or scope of revisions.

Revisions are intended to refine the agreed-upon design—not repeatedly reinvent the entire project after approval.

Requests that significantly change the original scope, structure, functionality, or creative direction may require an additional fee. If that happens, I’ll tell you before doing the extra work. No surprise invoices lurking in the bushes.

Client approval

You’ll have opportunities to review and approve your website during the project.

Once you approve a design, page, copy, or completed website, Easy Mode Websites is entitled to rely on that approval when continuing the project.

You are responsible for reviewing your website for accurate names, contact information, pricing, links, spelling, business information, and other details before launch.

Squarespace + third-party services

Websites are currently built using Squarespace unless otherwise agreed.

Squarespace subscriptions, domain registrations, premium plugins, third-party software, email services, scheduling platforms, payment processing fees, or other outside services are not included in my design fee unless specifically stated otherwise.

Those services are operated by third parties and have their own terms, pricing, privacy policies, functionality, and availability.

Easy Mode Websites isn’t responsible for outages, price changes, policy changes, discontinued features, technical problems, or other issues caused by third-party platforms.

Because unfortunately I do not personally control Squarespace. A devastating limitation of my power.

Domains + ongoing expenses

You are responsible for ongoing costs associated with operating your website, including your Squarespace subscription, domain renewal, business email, third-party subscriptions, or other services your website requires unless we specifically agree otherwise.

I can help connect and configure these things as included in your package, but ownership and ongoing payment remain your responsibility.

Website maintenance

Unless ongoing maintenance is specifically purchased or agreed to, your project does not include indefinite website maintenance after launch.

Once the project is completed and transferred to you, you are responsible for maintaining your website, keeping your account active, updating information, renewing subscriptions and domains, and managing the site going forward.

If you need help later, you’re welcome to contact me about additional work.

Cancellations + refunds

Deposits are non-refundable unless otherwise specifically agreed in writing.

For Easy Mode projects, you may choose not to continue after receiving your homepage preview. If you stop at that point, you will not owe the remaining project balance.

Once additional work has been completed, payments for completed work are generally non-refundable.

For custom projects, cancellation and refund terms may vary depending on the project and will be communicated as part of your quote or agreement.

Abandoned projects

If I’m waiting on information, feedback, approval, payment, or materials from you for an extended period, your project may be considered inactive.

If a project remains inactive for 30 days without communication, I may close or archive the project. Restarting an archived project may depend on my availability and could require an additional fee if substantial rescheduling or additional work is necessary.

I promise I’m not ghosting you. Please return the favor.

Portfolio + promotional use

Unless you ask me not to, Easy Mode Websites may display completed website designs, screenshots, mockups, and publicly available portions of completed client work in my portfolio, website, social media, marketing materials, or other promotional content.

I may also identify the business associated with the project when appropriate.

If you’d prefer that your project not be shared publicly, just tell me in writing.

Intellectual property

Once your project has been paid in full, you may use the final website design and deliverables created specifically for your business for their intended business purposes.

Easy Mode Websites retains ownership of its pre-existing materials, processes, systems, templates, starting designs, reusable design elements, methods, and other intellectual property that existed independently of your individual project.

Purchasing an Easy Mode website does not transfer ownership of the underlying starting template or give you the right to resell, redistribute, copy, or commercially license that template to others.

Your website is yours to use.

The entire Easy Mode design library is not secretly part of the deal.

Results + business performance

I’ll do my best to create a website that looks good, functions well, communicates clearly, and represents your business.

However, I cannot guarantee specific business results, including sales, revenue, traffic, search-engine rankings, leads, bookings, conversion rates, or your eventual domination of your industry.

A website is a business tool, not a magic spell.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Easy Mode Websites will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from your website, use of third-party platforms, loss of data, business interruption, lost profits, or use of the services.

Easy Mode Websites’ total liability relating to a project will not exceed the amount you actually paid Easy Mode Websites for that project, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Privacy

Your privacy matters.

Information collected through this website and during your project is handled according to the Easy Mode Websites Privacy Policy.

Again, by submitting payment for services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to both this Terms & Conditions agreement and the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

These Terms & Conditions may occasionally be updated as Easy Mode Websites, its services, or applicable requirements change.

The version posted on this website will include the date it was most recently updated.

Changes won’t retroactively rewrite the specific project terms we already agreed to unless required by law or agreed to by both of us.

Questions?

Questions about these terms, your project, or what exactly you’re agreeing to?

Just ask.
